Gift Offers Regular Payments Now and in the Future
National Jewish Health has been important to Dixie Savio-Jones and her husband, Bob Jones, for decades. When the couple decided they were ready to fund a significant gift, they knew exactly which institution they wanted to support.
Dixie’s relationship with National Jewish Health dates to the 1940s, when her uncle was treated for tuberculosis, the respiratory disease that led to the hospital’s opening in 1899.
“I have always appreciated what National Jewish Health did for my family,” Dixie says. “They saved my uncle’s life.”
Many years later, Dixie experienced the “exceptional care” firsthand as a patient, and in spring 2021, she and Bob were thrilled to receive their COVID-19 vaccinations at National Jewish Health.
The couple decided several years ago that they wanted to make a meaningful impact in their hometown, so they began learning about gifts that would provide them a reliable lifetime income. After exploring several options, they decided to donate to National Jewish Health through a charitable gift annuity (CGA) and a flexible gift annuity (FGA). The CGA will provide support to National Jewish Health and immediate, fixed quarterly annuity payments back to Dixie and Bob for the rest of their lives. With the FGA, the income is deferred to a future date, with increased payments when it starts.
By giving through both annuity types, Dixie and Bob knew they would have regular income immediately with increased amounts down the road when the FGA payments begin. The couple have been so pleased with the results that they recently funded their fourth CGA with the nation’s leading respiratory hospital.
“We looked into what would be beneficial to the charity and to us,” Bob says. “National Jewish Health made sense from an altruistic aspect and from a practical aspect.”
To support National Jewish Health by funding a CGA and/or FGA like Dixie and Bob did, please contact Gordon P. Smith, MBA, CFRE at 1.800.423.8891, Ext. 6549 or smithgo@njhealth.org. After all, there is no gift greater one can give than life and good health.
